Portia Chan

Grant Writer

Portia Chan, MA. CPRS brings over 15 years of experience in nonprofit development to the Latin Ballet of Virginia. She has been a key member of various development teams, holding roles from coordinator to director, at the College of William and Mary, the Governor's School Foundation, Nurture, the VCU School of Social Work, NAMI Virginia, and the Richmond Symphony. As a certified peer recovery specialist, she merges her experience in mental health research, writing, practice, and advocacy with her love for the arts to have broad impact in individual, family/family systems, and community well-being and health. Her articles have been published in April Magazine, The Asian American Psychologist, the Virginia Voice (the newsletter of the League of Women Voters of Virginia). She has served on statewide mental health panels and presented research at national conferences. She is delighted to be part of the LBV family as their Grants Writer. In this role, Portia bridges the government (national, state, and local), corporations, and private foundations with LBV's artistic and educational programs.
