Afro-Cuban Fusion Workshop & Company Auditions
The Latin Ballet of Virginia invites dancers to join us for a special Afro-Cuban Fusion Workshop led by Artistic Director Marisol Betancourt, followed by auditions for LBV's Professional Company.
The workshop offers dancers an opportunity to experience LBV's approach to movement, artistry, and culturally rooted dance training before stepping into the audition process. Dancers planning to audition are strongly encouraged to participate in the workshop.
Afro-cuban Fusion Workshop with Marisol Betancourt Sotolongo
Join LBV Artistic Director Marisol Betancourt Sotolongo in an immersive workshop exploring technique, musicality, movement, cultural connection, and artistry.
Curious about Afro-Cuban Fusion? This workshop is also a great introduction for dancers considering Afro-Cuban Fusion classes with LBV during the year. Experience the movement, rhythm, and energy firsthand before deciding to continue your training with us throughout the season.
Professional Company Auditions
Following the workshop, dancers will have the opportunity to audition for the Latin Ballet of Virginia Professional Company.
LBV is seeking strong, expressive, versatile dancers who are committed to artistic excellence, cultural pride, continued growth, and working collaboratively as part of an ensemble.
We are especially interested in dancers who demonstrate:
Strong technique and performance quality
Musicality and dynamic movement
Versatility and adaptability
An openness to learning unfamiliar styles and techniques
Respect for the history and cultural foundations of the work
Professionalism, collaboration, and a strong work ethic
Curiosity and willingness to grow as an artist
Because LBV's repertoire extends beyond a single dance form, we are not simply looking for ballet dancers or specialists in one particular style. We are interested in dancers who are strong in their existing training while also possessing the agility to move between different techniques, cultures, and artistic approaches.
What to Expect
Dancers should come prepared to move, learn, and perform. Throughout the workshop and audition, our artistic team will be looking not only at technique, but also at how dancers receive and apply corrections, approach unfamiliar movement, connect with musicality, work alongside other artists, and bring their individual presence to the choreography.
You do not need to arrive already knowing every style represented in LBV's repertoire. Come ready to learn.
The Professional Workshop and Company Auditions are designed to give dancers an opportunity to experience LBV while allowing our artistic team to get to know each dancer beyond a few combinations in a traditional audition setting.
