Magia (Magic)
Artistic Director: Ana Ines King

Latin Ballet of Virginia presents Magia (Magic) a dance theatre work based on the book written by local artists, Chris Burnside and Cat Studdard called “The Gift.” Magia (Magic) is an exploration of nature, a compelling review of the many gifts that nature offers to humans. The Latin Ballet highlights a complex ecological relationship between nature and people, Magia describes the terrible consequences of destroying the magical gifts that nature gives us. Magia captivates the deep importance of the natural world, the essential role of the insects, the role native pollinators play in sustaining the earth’s plant diversity. The essential care of being aware of Mother Earth, the magic of flowers and plants producing energy for us to breath! Let’s remember our magical gift, take care of animals and plants like they are our best friends, help bugs thrive, consume less gasoline, do not waste water, eat healthily and exercise, always recycle and enjoy the world around you!

Latin Ballet’s Magia will be accompanied by live music by Cuban artist, Yohan Manuel.

  • THE OLD MAN RIVER - The River, One of the World most Precious Treasure!

“We understand that we are part of something Fragile and Magical and so Beautiful!”

The Old Man River changes forms as the water moves – At the same time he seems to be very ancient but also seems to be very young.

Message from the Old Man River:

  • THE AWFULS (Pesticides, Herbicides, Chemical Fertilizes) – People use them to kill bugs, to make their lawns greener. People have used way too much and the extra chemicals come flowing into the river when it rains. They infect the water and many river creatures are dying too

  • BE CONNECTED WITH THE MAGIC!
We are part of an Amazing Gift, a Wonderful Magic that everything alive shares! MESSAGES from Children:

    • Plant more native Plants wherever we can!

    • Non-Native plants aren’t a valuable source of food. We will stop planting so many of them, specially lawn grass.

    • We cannot survive without insects – We can help the insects by planting more native plants

FINALE

  • THE ACTION (The Magic of Hope and Possibilities)
There is nothing like HOPE to stir the HEART!

    • Just remember TO BREATH

    • Be Aware of Mother EARTH

    • Remember the GIFT – Remember the MAGIC
