Today is our last day of "NuYoRican". We wish it could on! We have a lot of people to thank. Thank you to the Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen for providing our venue. We want to give a big thank you to Julia Torres Barden for introducing our show last night and helping us bring her inspirational book, "Newyorican Girl...Surviving My Spanglish Life" to life. Thank you to our wonderful parents, without them we would not have these beautiful performers or the assistance they bring when putting on these shows. A GRANDE GRACIAS to Antonio Hidalgo Paz for his work in tech and sound for this production. As always, he amazes us with his kindness and skills. Thank you to our photographers, Maggie Collins and Birgitte Dodd for capturing some fantastic images of our production. Thank you to our sponsors who sustain us and give our children the opportunity to learn and be on stage. Thank you to our dancers, Marisol Betancourt Sotolongo, Roberto Aero Whitaker, Teri Miller Buschman, Mary Petrizzi, Jay Williams, Ivana Lo Piccolo and of course the ever young, Frances Wessels. Thank you to Lulabelle's Cafe for providing and delivering delicious food for us. Thank you to Mr. Billy King for all his hard work in getting us anything and all we need including running our concessions. Lastly, thank you to Ana, for all her hard work in choreographing and producing this dance theater work. She approached a difficult subject and brought magic to the stage full of life and pride.

To all the immigrants who have come to America to make a better life, you are not alone. We celebrate and thank you and all that you do for this country. We are all immigrants, we will all stand together when faced with adversity, and we are all proud of where we come from.

I was not born in Puerto Rico, pero last night at the Latin Ballet of Virginia, Puerto Rico was born in me!
