FROM OUR TOURING ADVENTURES.
In June of 2003, The Latin Ballet Professional Company
toured to
Zacatecas
,
Mexico
on a cultural arts exchange between the state of Zacatecas and the state of
Virginia
organized by the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Instituto
Zacatecano de Cultura.. This amazing journey throughout the state of Zacatecas,
included performances in the city square, which made them accessible to all
townspeople, and workshops in nursing homes, schools for children with special
needs, and a juvenile correctional facility. Arts are woven into all
aspects of life in the city of
Zacatecas
- from the beautiful stone archways to the vendors on the street. The
arts are used as a tool to assist in the rehabilitation of criminals as well as
a foundation for every child's education. The experience confirmed to the
LBV that the arts can change the world.
In the spring and summer of 2004, the LBV has been invited
to not only return to Zacatecas for their Arts Festival but to perform in
Quebeck
,
Canada
with Macondo and in
Santander
,
Colombia
. Like Zacatecas,
Santander
's livelihood is embedded in the arts. The LBV will be performing "Mujeres"("Women")
as part of their educational program devoted to help with all aspect of the
arts, women and girls with financial needs. This program embraces LBV's
philosophy to, "Spread the Joy and Happiness through the Beauty of
Dance."
“The Latin Ballet made us feel like a poetic hug that takes us to the tropics
to fulfill us with warm brilliance that kisses our soul and our dreams.” -
Nuevas Raices
,
Virginia
- Por Geli Alvarez
"Their lines are ‘curves’, moving like a leaf in
the wind. Their long and expressive arms and legs adorn the music. You don’t
see the long scenes of the traditional modern dance. Each dancer performs with
unique characteristics unlike corps de ballet.” - El Espectador,
Bogotá
